It was the night before Christmas, and all through the town, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. But one house was different, as a dark figure lurked outside. It was Krampus, the fearsome creature of the night.
Krampus had come to visit the children of the town, to see who had been naughty and who had been nice. He peered through the windows, searching for any sign of misbehaviour.
As he made his way down the street, he saw a group of children huddled together, whispering secrets and plotting mischief. Krampus knew he had found his first targets.
He burst through the door, his horns gleaming in the moonlight. The children froze in terror as Krampus roared, "Who has been naughty this year?"
One brave little girl stepped forward and confessed to all the pranks and mischief she had gotten up to. Krampus nodded in approval and presented her with a small gift, a token of his appreciation for her honesty.
But the other children tried to hide their misdeeds, claiming they had been good all year. Krampus saw through their lies and punished them accordingly, leaving coal in their stockings and switches under the tree.
As the night drew to a close, Krampus returned to the shadows, leaving the children to ponder their actions and learn from their mistakes. And in the morning, when Saint Nicholas arrived with his bags of toys, the children were all on their best behaviour, knowing that Krampus was always watching.
